After honing her skills in Boston’s underground rock scene and performing extensively for Parisian audiences, Valaisan artist Christine Zufferey returns as an enchantress, offering a surprising alternative pop-rock style that is uniquely her own.
She completed the trilogy of TALES with her project MARY ZOO. The first part – Tales from the Underground – was written in the forbidden catacombs of Paris. The second part – Tales from the Enchanted Maze – was born in the winding paths of the Green Venice. The third one – Tales from the Land Above – was created in the mountains of Valais.
Each album comes with a 64-page booklet featuring all the songs and lyrics, illustrated by the phantasmagoric imagery of artist Bahadir Isler, evoking a chimeric universe of catacombs, swamps, and mountains. The booklets also include photographs and a text by Gaspard Duval.
We wander and lose ourselves in the intoxication of her lyrics, sometimes in English, sometimes in French, full of captivating emotions sprinkled with sensations and timeless legends. It's like a call to our childhood imagination, a call to freedom, an unfinished dream... With this trilogy, Mary Zoo awakens ancestral emotions buried deep within the soul.
On stage, in perfect harmony with her musicians, Dom Chopin (bass) and Laurent Chopin (drums), she enchants us with the magic of her compositions.
Christine Zufferey – Vocals & Guitar
Originally from Valais and based in France, Christine Zufferey spent 15 years in the United States, where she studied film music composition and gained extensive stage experience. She performed in All the Queen’s Men, January, Sabot, and Ziaf, participated in the multimedia project Bring Us Your Women, lent her voice to trance, house, and dance projects with Héliophase, and played at the Olympia with Rodrigo y Gabriela. Today, living in the Marais Poitevin, she blends international influences with personal sensibilities, giving her music an intimate yet universal dimension.
Dom Chopin – Bass
Since 1977, Dom Chopin has made the bass sing like a breath between earth and sky. A seasoned stage and studio artist, he has collaborated with Tim Skylbeck, Jean-Michel Piton, Joan-Pau Verdier, Marla Glen, Le Gang, Are You Experienced, Yannick Jaulin, Graeme Allwright, as well as Les Dièses, Texas Bop, and One Man Chopin Crooner. In 2023, he joined Mary Zoo, bringing a bass that is sometimes earthy, sometimes ethereal, subtly bridging rock and folk and giving the band a deep and luminous vibration.
Laurent Chopin – Drums
At the age of 15, Laurent Chopin discovered the drums, which would become the guiding thread of his life. Three years later, he became a professional musician. With collaborations including Patatra Drums (Jean-Marc Lajudie), Félix Blanchard, Frédéric Chauvigné, Marla Glen, Le Gang, Joan-Pau Verdier, and Pairagud, he joined Mary Zoo in 2022. His drumming, both organic and celestial, weaves a bridge between the heartbeat and the rhythm of machines, guiding the group’s music toward new horizons.
Après avoir fait ses armes sur la scène underground rock de Boston, puis s’être longuement produite devant le public parisien, l'artiste valaisanne Christine Zufferey nous revient en enchanteresse dans un style pop rock alternatif surprenant et si propre à elle.
Elle a finit une trilogie de « TALES » avec son projet MARY ZOO. Le premier - “Tales from the Underground ” - écrit dans les catacombes interdites de Paris. Le deuxième - “Tales from the Enchanted Maze”, - né dans les méandres de la Venise Verte. Le troisième - “Tales from the Land Above” - créé dans les montagnes du Valais.
Chaque album est accompagné d’un livret de 64 pages regroupant les chansons et leurs paroles, illustré par les images fantasmagoriques de l’artiste Bahadir Isler, évoquant l’univers chimérique des catacombes, du marais et des montagnes. Les livrets incluent également des photographies et un texte de Gaspard Duval.
On se promène et on se perd dans l'ivresse de ses textes tantôt en anglais, tantôt en français, pleins d'émotions envoûtantes saupoudrées de sensations et de légendes intemporelles. C’est comme un rappel à notre imaginaire d’enfant, comme un appel à la liberté, comme un rêve inachevé... Mary Zoo dans cette trilogie réveille des émotions ancestrales enfouies au plus profond de l’intime.
Sur scène, en parfaite symbiose avec ses musiciens, Dom Chopin (basse) et Laurent Chopin (batterie), elle nous ensorcelle par la magie de ses compositions.
Christine Zufferey – Chant & Guitare

Artiste de scène et de studio, il a collaboré avec Tim Skylbeck, Jean-Michel Piton, Joan-Pau Verdier, Marla Glen, Le Gang, Are You Experienced, Yannick Jaulin, Graeme Allwright, ainsi qu’avec Les Dièses, Texas Bop et One Man Chopin Crooner. En 2023, il rejoint Mary Zoo, apportant une basse tantôt terrienne, tantôt aérienne, qui relie subtilement rock et folk, donnant au groupe une vibration profonde et lumineuse.
Laurent Chopin – Batterie
À 15 ans, Laurent Chopin découvre la batterie, qui devient le fil conducteur de sa vie. Trois ans plus tard, il devient musicien professionnel. Fort de collaborations avec Patatra Drums (Jean-Marc Lajudie), Félix Blanchard, Frédéric Chauvigné, Marla Glen, Le Gang, Joan-Pau Verdier et Pairagud, il rejoint Mary Zoo en 2022. Sa batterie, à la fois organique et céleste, tisse un pont entre le battement du cœur et celui des machines, guidant la musique du groupe vers de nouveaux horizons.
